How do I use safarSaathi?

1. Start by searching for a companion. If an itinerary matches yours then contact the person via the site.

If you don't find a companion, post your itinerary so that someone with the same itinerary will be able to find you.
2. Once contact is established, communicate with your potential travel buddy to make sure s/he is a good fit. Being stuck next to someone you don't care for on a 15+ hour flight is NOT fun. Follow the usual safety rules when establishing contact (don't disclose personal information, don't meet in secluded place, yada yada yada)
3. Ensure that you're seated together. With e-tickets you can change the seating online. Your travel agent will also be able to help with seating. Check in together at the airport and verify adjacent seating.

How do I maximize my chances of success on safarSaathi?

• Search for a companion before your tickets are booked.

  For instance, if you know you're traveling in June, look at itineraries in June. You can book your tickets to match their itinerary.

• Do not include contact information in your message.

  Publishing your email or phone number on the web allows search engines to find and distribute it. This increases your chances of receiving spam.

• Explain the nature of the traveler.

  Who is traveling? Is it a young woman with a baby? An elderly person? A student? Putting this information in your message will get you relevant responses.

Why do I have to sign in to post or contact someone on safarSaathi?

For your safety and privacy. We don't disclose your contact information to anyone until you're ready to contact the person. The only way a travler can establish contact with you is if YOU say so. Here's how it works:

• Someone sees your itinerary on safarSaathi.
• They sign up and contact you via safarSaathi
• You get an email (routed through us) with their message.
• If you like them, hit "Reply" (at this point you're disclosing your email address). If you don't ignore the mail and your contact information is safe.
